More than 150 student-leaders gathered anew in the fourth Louisian Convergence at Saint Louis College’s Development Center in La Union last September 12-13.
Leaders from different organizations learned to survive in a camp-out style of training-workshop organized by the Student Affairs Office (SAO) and the Guidance Center. Armed with this year’s theme, “Fourth Louisian Convergence: towards increasing and sustaining networks and partnerships among Louisian student-leaders,” the event gave the participants a “one-of-a-kind” experience. Renowned SpeakersDistinguished speakers discussed about organizational management, spiritual leadership, and networking. Among them were Gregoria Mercado Jr., a project coordinator of Gawad Kalinga; Sam Galino, an alumni of the Ayala Youth Leaders’ Conference; Rev. Fr. Mel Portula; and Dr. Ryan Guinaran, one among the “Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines.” FrugalThe student-leaders had to prepare and cook their own meals thrice daily. The representatives were grouped according to their respective organizations’ colleges. University-wide organizations formed one group. Their skills, talents, creativity, and resourcefulness were tested during the two-day training-workshop. The organizers also assured that they learned teamwork, respect, friendship and sportsmanship. SAO’s Dean, Gil Espiritu, graced the event with Asst. Dean for Men, Andrew Macalma, who also spearheaded the event. With them, Guidance Center’s CJ Amadeo and Jeremy Dela Cruz attended the workshops.
